ANCOR Pre-Emptively Flags to OMB Concerns on Expected CMS Medicaid Block Grants Guidance
Following news that the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) began review of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ (CMS) guidance to states Medicaid directors on ways to block grant Medicaid administratively, ANCOR requested a meeting with OMB. OMB granted ANCOR staff a listening session on Thursday, June 20, attended by ANCOR CEO Barbara Merrill and Government Relations staff. OMB review is the final stage before Administration policies are released and the listening sessions are an opportunity to officially share concerns about policies being reviewed.
While the CMS block grant guidance is not yet available to the public, and will likely not include “block grants” in its official name when released, ANCOR used the listening session to remind OMB how important Medicaid is to the disability community. In light of the role Medicaid plays in funding the vast majority of supports for people with intellectual / developmental disabilities (I/DD), ANCOR requested that the public receive an opportunity to review and comment on the guidance before it takes effect.
