The State of America's Direct Support Workforce Crisis 2024
Disability Community Act
We’re working to advocate on your behalf for the most sensible approach possible to the Department of Labor’s final Overtime Rule. To that end, we created this social media toolkit for you to use and customize to raise awareness on social media within your networks and beyond.
Ultimately, we aim to amplify two important messages: (1) that the Department of Labor’s Overtime Rule could have a profound impact on community I/DD services, and (2) the Disability Community Act would help community providers make badly needed progress in our collective quest to strengthen the direct support workforce.
ANCOR encourages members and partner organizations to use these messages on their social media platforms to raise awareness of the dire situation facing community providers of I/DD services, and the critically needed investment proposed by the Disability Community Act.

SAMPLE 7 (pairs well with “Image 6 Reduced Access“)
Recently, several regulatory changes have been introduced that, without commensurate funding, would threaten the supports and services that community providers offer for people with disabilities. The #DisabilityCommunityAct is a vital piece of legislation that would invest in Medicaid I/DD services and help community providers avoid disruption of services that would be devastating to millions of people with disabilities in the US.
SAMPLE 8 (pairs well with “Image 5 Lifeline“)
The #DisabilityCommunityAct is desperately needed to ensure that community providers can effectively comply with an array of regulatory changes that, as proposed, insist on additional costs without commensurate funding. Without a solution like the Disability Community Act, community providers will have no choice but to discontinue services or close their doors completely.
