Because the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ (CMS) regulations surrounding the Preadmission Screening and Resident Review (PASRR) process include screening for intellectual / developmental disabilities, ANCOR is monitoring proposed changes to the regulations. CMS announced a webinar to explain the proposal, which will be held on March 11 from 2pm to 3:30pm EST.

As CMS announced:

“This presentation will identify key changes to Preadmission Screening and Resident Review (PASRR) requirements proposed in the recently-released Notice of Proposed Rulemaking. PASRR is a statutory requirement that states screen all applicants to and residents of Medicaid-certified nursing homes for mental illness and intellectual disability and, when possible, divert or transition these individuals to community placements. The presentation will provide a basic overview of the PASRR statutory requirements and highlight proposed regulatory changes that support community integration. Presenters will be Centers for Medicaid & CHIP Services (CMCS) staff from the Division of Long Term Supports and Services (DLTSS), including Ralph F. Lollar, Division Director; George Failla, Deputy Division Director; and Anne Blackfield, PASRR Subject Matter Expert. Technical support will be given by IBM Watson Health, which provides PASRR-related technical assistance to states via the PASRR Technical Assistance Center.
