ANCOR Hits the Ground Running with Outreach to Newly Inaugurated Biden Administration

With President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris officially inaugurated last Wednesday, ANCOR hit the ground running with outreach to key administration officials to educate them about the needs of disability providers during the pandemic. This outreach dovetailed with work in which ANCOR was already engaged to educate the Biden Transition Teams. Highlights of our outreach are summarized below.

  • A coalition meeting with the nominee for Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS), Xavier Becerra, to educate him on the needs of the I/DD community.
  • A formal letter to the HHS transition team expressing our eagerness to work with the administration and sharing our disappointment that Medicaid Home and Community Services were not included in the administration’s COVID-19 relief proposal.
  • Requests for introductory meetings with the newly appointed leadership of the Administration for Community Living, which funds many federal disability initiatives.

We will keep members informed of broader opportunities for engaging with the administration as they emerge.
