After our recent victory on electronic visit verification, ANCOR continues to advocate for issues important to disability service providers! We have been engaging in discussions with two Congressional offices on their legislative plans and are pleased to announce our support of two new bills:

  • U.S. Senator Bob Casey’s (D-PA) Disability Employment Incentive Act (S. 3260), which would “encourage employers to hire and retain employees with disabilities by enhancing three existing tax credits to support employers who hire individuals with disabilities.” A summary of the bill is available here. • U.S. Representative Seth Moulton’s (D-MA) HEADs UP Act (H.R. 6611), which would “designate people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) as a Medically Underserved Population (MUP) under the Health Services and Resources Administration (HRSA), opening up access to much needed primary care and specialist services, incentivizing new research, and authorizing more favorable reimbursement rates for providers who treat this population.” The bill language is available here and a summary is available here. ANCOR’s summary of U.S. Representative Moulton’s press release, which is not yet available online but which quotes ANCOR’s CEO Barbara Merrill, is available here. H.R. 6611 has also received the praise of the National Council on Disabilities (NCD), which states: “This bill takes one more step towards helping us realize the promise of accessibility made with the Americans with Disabilities Act.”
