ANCOR is sharing this article by The Hill on the most recent national jobs report because historically when demand for workers increase, there has been increased employment opportunities for people with disabilities. The labor market tightened over 2018 and the Los Angeles Times noted improved employment leverage for people with disabilities as a result. Likewise, Congressional and federal reports alike found a modest improvement in disability employment in 2018. So a strong December 2018 jobs report could be ground for optimism for 2019.

“The U.S. economy added a robust 312,000 jobs in December, well above expectations, as the labor market continues to expand even as worries grow about an economic slowdown and turbulent stock markets.

The unemployment rate ticked up to 3.9 percent from 3.7 percent as the labor force expanded by 419,000, the Labor Department reported on Friday.”
