The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has announced a notice of funding availability of $150 million for Mainstream Housing (Section 811) Vouchers. The funding is expected to house approximately 18,000 families. The funding will be awarded to public housing agencies (PHAs) to support vouchers that provide sustained community-based integrated housing opportunities to non-elderly people with disabilities.

HUD will provide additional points for PHAs that target funds to assist non-elderly persons with disabilities who are transitioning out of the following: institutional or other segregated settings, at serious risk of institutionalization, currently experiencing homeless, previously homeless and currently a client in a permanent supportive housing or rapid rehousing project, or those at risk of experiencing homelessness.
