ANCOR is sharing recent developments in opioids legislation so that members attending our Policy Summit and Hill Day get a sense of other health issues that will be competing for the attention of the Congressional offices they are meeting with.

“The House Friday overwhelmingly approved a bipartisan, bicameral compromise to address the opioid crisis in a final vote before leaving town until after the midterm elections.
The bill, H.R. 6 (115), which passed 393 to 8, is made up of dozens of proposals focused on both law enforcement and public health aspects of drug addiction.
The bill includes several provisions that would expand access to addiction treatment, including a proposal to allow Medicaid reimbursement for additional inpatient addiction treatment facilities by partially lifting the decades-old IMD exclusion. The legislation also allows more health professionals to prescribe buprenorphine, one of three medication-assisted treatments approved by the FDA.
