Bill Boosting MFP by $20M Heads to President’s Desk After Senate Passage

ANCOR is thrilled to share that last Tuesday the Senate passed H.R. 1839, which gave the Money Follows the Person (MFP) program a short-term $20M funding boost to keep the program stable during Congressional negotiations for a longer-term solution. The House passed this same bill the prior week, meaning that it is now on its way to the President’s desk for signing. ANCOR will keep members informed of when it is signed. In the meantime, please take a moment to thank your members of Congress for voting to support this legislation.

Senate and House disability allies are currently preparing a bill with a longer-term solution, with an expected release in the fall. While Congress is currently focused on passing a budget for FY20, the summer months will be a good time to educate members of Congress on the importance of community programs and Money Follows the Person, in advance of the longer-term MFP renewal bill. ANCOR will be planning a fly-in on June 11 to educate members of Congress on key issues. ANCOR members interested in participating can reach out to Doris Parfaite-Claude, Federal Advocacy and Research Manager, at [email protected] for details.
