Disability Scoop Highlights ANCOR’s Concerns Over New Overtime Mandate

In a recent article titled “Overtime Mandate Has Disability Providers Considering Service Cuts, Advocates Say,” Disability Scoop delves into the challenges facing disability service providers due to the new U.S. Department of Labor Overtime Rule. The article prominently features insights from Lydia Dawson, ANCOR’s Vice President of Government Relations.

The updated rule, which began its incremental implementation this summer, raises the salary threshold for overtime eligibility. As of July 1, salaried workers earning less than $43,888 annually qualify for overtime pay, with the threshold set to rise to $58,656 in January. This change is expected to impact over 4 million workers initially and will continue to adjust every three years.

As the next increase approaches in January, concerns grow among community-based providers about their ability to comply without adequate Medicaid reimbursement adjustments. Despite initial assurances from the Labor Department about collaboration with the Administration for Community Living and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, specific measures to address the funding gap remain unclear. For more information, see the Overtime Rule Action Center.
