This past Tuesday, ANCOR joined the Care Can’t Wait rally and day of action organized by Caring Across Generations, the National Domestic Workers Alliance, National Women’s Law Center, the Arc, and others. The focus of the day was to elevate the issue of care, including the importance of investing in the workforce that supports people with disabilities through home- and community-based services. Members of Congress, including Senator Patty Murray (D-WA), Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR), Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), Representative Rosa DeLauro (D-CT), and Representative Suzanne Bonamici (D-OR) spoke to the importance of improving the care infrastructure.

ANCOR was thrilled to witness the enthusiasm and dedication of all those in attendance and is committed to continuing to advocate for the critical needs of individuals with disabilities and their families.

We know that when the White House releases its budget, we will begin to see a variety of congressional budgetary proposals and until that time our advocacy approach will focus on ensuring members of Congress know exactly what Medicaid means to ANCOR members. ANCOR always aims to work in a steady, bipartisan manner, and with a divided Congress that has never been more important than it is right now. ANCOR has launched a national action alert ahead of Congressional budget negotiations to remind Congress that our services are vital for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live full and independent lives in their communities.
