The House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee released the Investing in a New Vision for the Environment and Surface Transportation in America (INVEST in America) Act earlier in June. The bill would authorizes nearly $500 billion over five years to address some of the country’s most urgent infrastructure needs, and includes provisions from the Disability Access to Transportation Act crafted by the office of U.S. Representative Jim Langevin (D-RI). ANCOR officially supported the Disability Access to Transportation Act in March because of its provisions to improve paratransit, pedestrian rights of way, the process by which people with disabilities can file transportation accessibility complaints, and an accessibility pilot project.
