Many of our members who have struggled with the logistics of testing large numbers of staff and individuals supported for COVID-19 might be interested in this new action by the Food and Drug Administration, as reported by Politico Pulse:

“The agency is making it easier for some Covid test developers to market their products for at-home use, POLITICO’s David Lim reports.

Under the FDA’s new approach, certain developers won’t first have to study how well their tests perform in people without symptoms before making them widely accessible. It’s a move that some public health experts have favored for months as a way to rein in the pandemic, and it could allow for serial testing in schools that resume in-class learning, as well as in other community settings.”
