The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announced that Medicare beneficiaries will be able to get over-the-counter COVID-19 tests at no cost “in early spring.” This announcement was made following CMS’ announcement last month that only commercial insurers would be required to cover and reimburse over-the-counter tests. Medicare will now also cover up to eight over-the-counter COVID-19 tests per month for free.
