On Friday, the U.S. Department of Education’s Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA) announced its application period was open for the Subminimum Wage to Competitive Integrated Employment (SWTCIE) demonstration project. The SWTCIE is the largest discretionary grant administered by RSA, and grants will be awarded to as many as 18 State Vocational Rehabilitation agencies and their partners to create employment opportunities for people with disabilities that will transition individuals from subminimum wage employment to competitive integrated employment.

The RSA grant program is part of the Biden Administration’s focus on phasing out subminimum wage employment for people with disabilities. For more information on the SWTCIE program, the notice inviting applications is available on the federal register.
