KFF Monitors Increasing Use of 1115 Waivers

Last month, the Kaiser Family Foundation (KFF) published the latest information on the use of Section 1115 waivers across the states as part of its Medicaid Waiver Tracker: Approved and Pending Section 1115 Waivers by State

The tracker explains that the use of section 1115 waivers has increased significantly under the Biden administration as the administration has emphasized the use of such waivers that expand, rather than restrict, Medicaid coverage and access to care, while also withdrawing the work requirement approvals promulgated under the Trump administration. The Biden administration has also encouraged states to propose innovative Section 1115 waivers to reduce health disparities and address health-related social needs.
