EVV Delay Bill Passes the House with ANCOR’s Leadership

ANCOR celebrates an important victory for its advocacy leadership with the passage of H.R. 6042 in the House of Representatives. As we reported previously, Representative Brett Guthrie (R-KY, @brettguthrie) introduced H.R. 6042 to delay Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) implementation by a year. The bill passed the House “under suspension of the rules” and is now headed to the Senate.

H.R. 6042 benefited from the support of influential members of Congress: Representatives Greg Walden (R-WA, @repgregwalden), Jim Langevin (D-RI, @JimLangevin), and Diana DeGette (D-CO, @RepDianaDeGette) all signed as co-sponsors. Representative Walden is the Chairman of the Energy and Commerce (E&C) Committee, which oversees Medicaid. Representative Langevin is the Co-Chair of the congressional Bipartisan Disabilities Caucus. Representative DeGette is a member of the E&C Committee. If you live in their districts, please take a minute to thank these members of the House through social media. Their Twitter handles are listed next to their names.

H.R. 6042 also benefited from the support of the Consortium for Citizens with Disabilities, which under ANCOR’s leadership wrote a letter to the E&C Committee leadership expressing support for an EVV implementation delay.

Action now moves to the Senate, and it is important that we continue building our momentum since both the House and Senate need to vote on legislation for it to become law. We urge you to ask your Senators to support legislation that will delay EVV implementation by one year. Please take 2 minutes today to use our action tool to email your Senators on EVV!
