New Federal Committee on Person-Centered Planning Held First Meeting, Two More Meetings Coming Up

ANCOR is sharing this announcement by the Administration for Community Living (ACL) on its joint project with the National Quality Forum (NQF) as an update on this article. Note that while the May 3 meeting listed below has passed, two more meetings have been announced for June 24 and July 31 – more information on those is available on the NQF website.

“The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) is working with the Administration for Community Living through the National Quality Forum (NQF) to address quality measurement in person-centered planning. 

The first meeting of the Person Centered Planning and Practice Standing Committee will be on May 3 at 1 – 3:30 pm ET. It will be online and open to the public.

The Committee will provide input on a draft operational definition of person-centered planning (PCP). The public and NQF members are welcome to attend the web meeting. The agenda and meeting materials will be posted to the project page as soon as they are available. Please contact the project team with any questions.

Over an 18-month period, NQF will use a multi-stakeholder approach to address person-centered planning and practice (PCP) as part of long-term services and supports (LTSS) systems. Beginning with the establishment of definitions, core competencies, and necessary systems characteristics, this work will establish a foundation for performance measurement of person-centered planning, catalyzing the development of a robust quality measure set that interfaces with other healthcare quality measures across provider types, settings, payers, delivery systems, programs, conditions, and populations. Both practical as well as forward-looking considerations, recommendations, and guidance will be provided to enhance the success of person-centered planning and coordination at the state level.
