We are sharing this item from Friday’s Weekly Update as a courtesy to our members:

As writteny by Donna Martin, Director of State Partnerships & Special Projects:

This week wrapped up the activity of the Business Acumen Learning Collaboratives under the scope of the ACL grant. We spent four days together at the HCBS Annual Conference in Baltimore. This annual event has been hosted by NASUAD, now called ADvancing States, for many years and is an enormous gathering of people with disabilities, providers, advocates, and state and federal representatives all focused on aging and disability services and policy.

The Learning Collaboratives spent time reporting out on the successes and struggles of their projects and sharing what they’ve learned over the past three years. We discussed how to best develop an Value Proposition and how to make a compelling pitch to potential payers and partners with the support of representatives from Centene, Aetna and Molina.

The group also heard a presentation by ANCOR’s Esmé Grewal on ANCOR Alternate Payment Methodology white paper and from Kathy Carmody from the Institute for Public Policy for People with Disabilities on measuring quality in the MLTSS and value-based payments space. Lastly, the Collaboratives’ members committed to maintaining their connections beyond the life of the grant and to continuing to share best practices and lessons learned as they continue their work.
