Please join us for this informative, interactive webinar designed to familiarize ANCOR members and Direct Support Professionals with the objectives of ANCOR’s National Advocacy Campaign, and help prepare you in advance for successful meetings with your members of Congress. Though targeted to conference attendees, all ANCOR members are encouraged to join this webinar to build and strengthen advocacy skills and learn how to become more effective citizen advocates. The webinar will provide you with the information and resources needed for a successful visit with your Senators and Representatives, in-home district visits and/or Capitol Hill, in conjunction with our "DSPs to DC" conference being held in Washington, D.C. from April 29-30, 2013.
Hosted by ANCOR’s experienced Government Relations team, you will learn about ANCOR’s advocacy objectives, and how to make the most out of your visits with members of Congress – whether you travel to Capitol Hill as part of ANCOR’s conference and/or arrange meetings in your own home district. Our public policy team will walk you through the steps on how and why to schedule appointments with your Representatives and Senators, what to bring with you, how to best conduct your meetings, among other important steps.
Registration is free, and the session will be recorded and available on ANCOR’s website shortly after the webinar. The session will help participants plan their visit and make the most of their meetings by helping them to do the following:
Learn about ANCOR’s National Advocacy Campaign Goals and how to effectively communicate them to members of Congress and their staff;
Find your elected officials and request a meeting;
Understand what to expect when meeting with members of Congress and/or their staff, and gain insights into legislative visit best practices; and
Prepare for follow-up and sending thank you letters.
