Description

Siblings are in a unique position to in the family to provide support to their brothers and sisters with disabilities and collaborate with providers.  Roles of siblings may include providing paid or unpaid daily support, being an active invited (by their sibling) team member, providing emotional support,or not knowing how to be involved and supportive. This presentation will provide information about the role and perspective of siblings, strategies to engage and empower siblings, and possible future collaborations.

Participants will:

  1. Gain information about the role and perspective of siblings

  2. Identify strategies to engage and empower siblings

  3. identify possible future collaborations between providers and siblings
