TAC Releases Priced Out in 2010

June 27, 2011

A bi-annual study released in June by the Technical Assistance Collaborative reveals that on a national average, people with disabilities living on Supplemental Security Income (SSI) needed to pay 112% of their income to rent a modest one-bedroom unit priced at the fair market rent. Authors note that in 2010, there was not one state or community in the nation where a person with a disability receiving SSI could afford to rent modest rental housing without a permanent rental subsidy. The report provides a state-by-state analysis in addition to national data--check out the report to see where your state stands.
