Senate Votes Against House Budget

May 26, 2011

Last night, the Senate rejected the motion to bring the Ryan Resolution (H. Con. Res. 34) to the floor by a vote of 40-57. To bring the resolution to the floor, 51 votes were needed. Five Republicans--Scott Brown (MA), Susan Collins (ME), Lisa Murkowski (AK), Rand Paul (KY) and Olympia Snowe (ME)--joined the Democrats in voting against the resolution.

We thank ANCOR members for contacting their Senators over the past several weeks regarding the plan to turn Medicaid into a block grant program.

The Senate also voted last night 0-97 against the president’s 2012 budget proposal.
