Senate Might Have Shorter Summer Recess

According to RollCall:

“Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell [R-KY] is far from waving off the idea that he might truncate the August recess, and doing the math on the amount of floor time needed for his current legislative agenda seems to point to one thing: extra work weeks.

The tentative legislative schedule for the year includes recess weeks for Memorial Day and the Fourth of July, with the traditional August state work period effectively kicking off Friday, Aug. 3.”

With momentum building on EVV issues, August recess will be an important opportunity for I/DD providers to build bridges with their members of Congress when they are back in their home states. We will keep ANCOR members informed on any changes to the August recess schedule so members can plan their advocacy accordingly. Stay tuned for information about future in-district opportunities to engage in advocacy later this summer!
