MedPAC Says Care Coordination Works When Properly Implemented

April 13, 2012

On April 6, some members of Congress' Medicare advisory board (MedPAC) said that most coordinated care demonstrations fail to return significant savings and quality improvements because the healthcare delivery is flawed"”not because the demonstrations themselves are flawed. Commissioner Cori Uccello noted that approaches should not be rejected for not working when, in fact, they may not work because of improper implementation.

Transcripts for the April 5 and 6 MedPac meeting may be found here. (The care coordination discussion starts on page 43 of the second day's transcript.)
