As a follow-up to the National Council on Disability’s (NCD) Medicaid Managed Care publications released in 2012 & 2013, the NCD hosted a series of forums to cultivate dialogue between Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) regional office staff and the disability community. The primary topic centered on managed care waiver applications and dual eligible demonstration proposals.
The NCD conducted the forum across ten states (KS, FL, IL, CA, NY, GA, LA, PA, TX, and WI) and the work was completed through ten community forums that brought together state Medicaid authorities, the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), CMS, and over 650 individuals. In addition, seven stakeholder groups comprising of consumers and self-advocates, families, providers, informal family caregivers, state government agency workers, managed-care organizations, researchers, and other various professionals to include professionals in academia.
