As ANCOR previously reported, the Medicaid and CHIP Payment and Access Commission (MACPAC) held a meeting on March 1, 2018 which included a presentation of an upcoming June MACPAC report chapter of interest to IDD providers. Specifically, this chapter will discuss including IDD services in Managed Long Term Supports and Services (MLTSS). Materials from that meeting are now available, including the MLTSS presentation, and can be accessed here.
As a refresher, the IDD presentation highlighted reasons fewer states include individuals with IDD in MLTSS, including:
Silos in administration of services for individuals with I/DD;
Lack of data for capitation rate development;
Difficulty in achieving cost savings;
Resistance from the I/DD stakeholder community; and
Underdeveloped relationships between managed care organizations and I/DD service providers.
