HUD Proposes Rule to Streamline Requirements for Supportive Housing

March 29, 2012

On March 28, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development proposed a rule amending its regulations governing supporting housing for the elderly and persons with disabilities. The proposed rule would streamline the requirements for funding developments by removing certain restrictions currently in place.

The amendments are being proposed with the intent of attracting private capital and private developers to create affordable supporting housing developments for the elderly and persons with disabilities. Comments on the proposed rule are due May 29, 2012.
