House Votes to Repeal ACA

July 12, 2012

On July 12, the House of Representatives voted 244–185, largely along party lines, to pass legislation that would repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA). The White House has said it would veto the measure should it make it to the president's office; however, the Democrat-controlled Senate is very unlikely to pass (or even consider) the bill.

This is the second time since the ACA was signed into law that the House has voted to repeal it. The House has also voted on specific portions of the law more than 30 times and has not yet succeeded in repealing any part of it.
