House Passes "Clean" Debt Ceiling Bill

February 12, 2014

On Tuesday, the House of Representatives quietly passed a "clean" debt ceiling extension bill by a narrow margin. The vote is a relief to many who were anticipating another showdown over the debt ceiling which could result in a federal government shutdown like the one that occurred in October of last year. The bill extends the ability of the country to borrow through March 2015. The bill will move on to the Senate, where it is expected to pass.
