HHS Announces MFP Grant Funding and New Community First Choice Proposed Rule

February 24, 2011

On February 21, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced $4.3 billion in grants to states for the Money Follows the Person (MFP) demonstration program. The Affordable Care Act (ACA) included an extension for the grant program and additional funding. (See the HHS press release for state recipients.)

In addition to the MFP funding announcement, HHS also proposed rules to allow (made available in the Federal Register 2/25/11) all states to access a potential $3.7 billion in increased federal funding to provide long-term services and supports through the Community First Choice Option program—a 6% enhanced Federal Medical Assistance Percentages (FMAP) rate. The ACA provides additional funding for the Community First Choice Option program.

ANCOR will be commenting on the new proposed rule.
