HEALTH CARE UPDATE

With Congress returning to Washington DC next week, health care is regaining prominence in the nation’s political discourse. As of now:

  • The Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee, which has jurisdiction over the Affordable Care Act (ACA), has scheduled 4 hearings on stabilizing the insurance market. Find information about the hearings here.
  • Eight governors released their ideas for health care stabilization last Thursday, which is expected to generate more internal GOP discussions – read more here.
  • ANCOR has heard that Senator Graham (R-SC), Senator Cassidy (R-LA), and Senator Heller (R-NV) are planning on proposing legislation to move the ACA into block grants and Medicaid into per capita caps. ANCOR is hearing from both Republicans and Democrats on the Hill that this is a longshot bill and there is little appetite for it.
