Effort to Repeal CLASS Act Will Go to House Floor

December 2, 2011

An aide to House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) said the House hopes to consider the repeal of the CLASS program in the next two weeks or early next year.

A GOP lobbyist said the House might try to attach the CLASS repeal to a sustainable growth rate pay patch if they open up the expected physician payment bill for amendments. This move would likely make it through the House, but would be stopped in the Senate.

Rep. Mike Burgess (R-TX) has stated that he was not interested in attached the CLASS repeal to a physician pay patch due to the differences in the concepts. He felt that, in the end, it is a leadership decision.
