CSPD Releases Recommendations on ACICIEID Report

October 17, 2016

On October 14, the Collaboration to Promote Self-Determination (CPSD) held a briefing for national disability organizations to go over recommendations the group drafted in response to the final report of the the Advisory Committee on Increasing Competitive Integrated Employment for Individuals with Disabilities (ACICIEID). The ACICIEID was established by the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). The committee was tasked with holding regular meetings over a two-year period, with a deliverable of a final report issued to the Administration with recommendations on how to increase competitive, integrated employment for people with disabilities. (See WICs article, "WIOA Advisory Committee Issues Final Report of Recommendations," September 16, 2016.)

CPSD Executive Director Barb Trader said, "CPSD strongly supports the recommendations in the ACICIEID Report, and urges the Congress and the next Administration to work aggressively toward its implementation." Included in the recommendations is that Congress pass legislation for a multi-year phase out of Section 14(c) subminimum wage certificate use.
The press release from CPSD is attached below. This page will be updated with the final CPSD recommendation report when that document is made public.
