Although large scale Medicaid reform seems to be on hold in Congress, CMS Administrator Seema Verma is promising states significantly increased flexibility through and reduced scrutiny of the waiver process. At a Cleveland summit, Verma articulated a vision for Medicaid that had states driving policies about enrollment and other changes that drive costs while still allowing the federal government to put the larger Medicaid program on a budget. ANCOR will be awaiting further elaboration of these policies when staff hears her present to Medicaid Directors in Washington, DC in early November at their national conference.
