Recently, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services published its 2014 Medicaid Managed Care Enrollment and Program Characteristics report. The report provides both national and state-specific data on Medicaid managed care programs, including program type, geographic operating area, federal operating authority, beneficiaries and services covered, quality provisions, and the plans participating in the state.
Highlights from the report include:
- Enrollment in comprehensive managed care increased by 24 percent, from 35 million in 2013 to 43.3 million in 2014.
- Managed long-term services and supports enrollment increased 175 percent, from 916,000 in 2013 to over 1.4 million in 2014.
- In 18 states, 75 percent of Medicaid beneficiaries enrolled in managed care were enrolled in a comprehensive plan.
