ASAN Releases Plain-Language Guide to Medicaid

Last week, the Autistic Self Advocacy Network (ASAN), a national Autism advocacy group, released a new resource titled, “A Self-Advocate’s Guide to Medicaid“. This resource is the third of several that ASAN is developing to equip self-advocates to participate in important conversations about their lives and the services they rely on.

The guide is divided into six parts:

  1. Medicaid introduction and background
  2. Who Can Get Medicaid?
  3. What Does Medicaid Pay For?
  4. Medicaid funding
  5. What Could Happen to Medicaid?
  6. Summary and Glossary
There are two versions of the guide: an easy read edition which includes pictures and white space, and a plain text version which omits pictures. Both versions are available here.
