ANCOR Recommends Stronger AoA and ADD Collaboration

May 27, 2011

On Thursday, ANCOR Senior Policy Advisor Suellen Galbraith was invited to join Administration on Developmental Disabilities Commissioner Sharon Lewis and Robert Hornyak of the Administration on Aging on a panel to discuss strategies for collaboration between the two federal agencies.

The three-day conference, sponsored by multiple federal agencies, provided an opportunity to discuss aging and disability issues and barriers at federal and state levels. ANCOR urged the agencies to consider more than short-term demonstration and grant programs, but rather deeper structural and policy activities. ANCOR addressed the crisis in long-term workforce, citing the College of Direct Support and weighing in on the CMS proposed 1915(c) waiver regulation.
