ANCOR Meets with CMS Administrator Verma on HCBS Settings Rule

As part of our work with fellow disability organizations in the HCBS Coalitions, ANCOR was invited to meet with Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS) Administrator Seema Verma, CMCS Director Brian Neale, and other top CMS officials to discuss the HCBS Settings Rule.  Administrator Verma shared that there is no official plan to reopen the rule at this time, but that CMS has decided to issue further subregulatory guidance with an immediate focus on the heightened scrutiny process.  The discussion with Administrator Verma also covered ideas of choice, standards for quality and outcomes, and goals to provide states with unprecedented flexibility.

In addition to Administrator Verma’s comments about the HCBS Settings Rule, she shared that CMS is planning to release Medicaid scorecards for states in the near future.  ANCOR will be following up with Administrator Verma on this process in order to share input from ANCOR members.
