ANCOR Applauds Selection to Head the Office of CLASS

January 10, 2011

ANCOR is pleased that on January 6, HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius announced the “opening of the doors” to the new Office of CLASS, whose purpose is to implement theCommunity Living Assisted Services and Supports (CLASS) Act.The Secretary’s decision to designate Assistant Secretary of Aging Kathy Greenlee as the Administrator of this program is an important step in moving forward on the CLASS Act, which was passed in the Affordable Care Act of 2010. Greenlee has extensive insurance expertise and is committed to ensuring that the opportunities inherent in the CLASS Program for all Americans—regardless of their age or the nature of their disability—become a reality.

ANCOR is excited by this announcement and by the leadership implementing the new voluntary long-term services insurance program designed to aid millions of Americans of all ages with cash benefits to choose private home and community based supports. For more information, read the press release issued by the Advance CLASS Board of Directors (of which ANCOR Senior Policy Advisor Suellen Galbraith is a member), access ANCOR Issue Briefs, or visit the Advance CLASS website.
