Additional Congressional Retirements This Week

Long-time U.S. Representative Darrell Issa (R-CA) announced this week he would not seek re-election for his district in 2018. His district has increasingly become a swing district and a majority of his constituents voted for Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential election. According to The Hill: “His departure means House Republicans will have to defend at least 31 open seats this year due to retirements, resignations and lawmakers seeking other office.
