• On May 3rd, CMS sent a letter to State Medicaid Directors reminding states of the importance of public input--including provider input--in HCBS, 1115 waivers, and managed care Medicaid waivers. ANCOR members should engage their states in ensuring that there is adequate private provider involvement in the development of such waivers. (6/5/02)
• The CMS issued a letter to Medicaid Directors on May 9th clarifying methoods by which HCBS waivers under section 1915(c) may aid in the transitioning of individuals with disabilities from institutional settings to their own home in the community through one-time transitional expenses. This clarification of allowable transitional costs was promised in the HHS New Freedom Report to President Bush. (5/17/02)
