ANCOR strives to change “what is” into “what should be” with respect to how supports and services are delivered to the people we serve and their families. Advocacy is the key to effecting change and creating a better social, political and economic environment for all. It is through the deliberate process of advocacy that ANCOR members can speak out on issues of importance to providers.
You have an important role to play in bringing about the change we seek. You, as a constituent, can help your Representatives and Senators make informed policy decisions. As a constituent – whether you are a community member, employer, or direct support professional – you CAN influence public policy. It is up to you to educate your Members of Congress on your organization, the effect it has on the local economy, and the importance of investing in the supports and services you provide to individuals with disabilities.
"Never underestimate the power of a small, dedicated group of people to change the world; indeed, that is the only thing that ever has." - Margaret Mead
But we are not so small. Our community of community providers includes employees, persons-served, their families, and allies in your community. If we all exercise our rights as citizens, our collective voice gives us the ability to bring about profound change in our world.
